Thug Lovin'
is an urban novel full of the drama and tragedy of the hood. Tasha and Trae, along with their friends Marvin, Kyra, Angel and Kaylin, Rick and Kyron, and Kaylin's brother, are upping their bootstraps. Fighting their way out of the New York mob, ex-drug dealer Trae has made mucho millions. He and Tasha (pregnant with twin boys), relocate to California to "escape." Marvin and Kyra, with their five year old, Aisha, as well as Stephon, a cousin, help them with their transition to L.A. Trae and Tasha are ecstatically happy, and after the twins arrive they have yet another beautiful son, Caliph.In the meantime, Trae finds a beautiful house through Stephon, and Tasha and settles in for domestic bliss. However, a series of "unfortunate events" steers Trae off his solid road. Charli Li is the beautiful lawyer whose father is the head of the Chinese mob. Trae goes back to NJ to avenge his cousin's murder. The NY mob resents Trae's involvement with Charli Li.

On Trae's return to L.A. , he opens up a nightclub with Charli Li called "New York" which is tremendously successful. That is, until Tasha realizes that Trae is doing the dirty with Charli Li. Marvin starts running heroin out of the club, and from clean and sober he returns to the miasma of heroin high. when Kyra gets shot, Marvin takes Aisha and flees telling no one.
The club is raided and Charli Li takes 8 million of Trae's money.
The real story is the love between Trae and Tasha as they crash and fold between affairs, anger and bitterness. Tasha moves back to NY where Trae follows, beats her up and brings her home.

This fast moving novel tells a real story of entrapment and love. The dialogue, while rough, comes straight from the characters. My only objection was the sex scenes - too many, too explicit and disruptive to the story in some place
If you love the Thug series (this is the fourth book in the series) you will certainly enjoy this 4th novel.
