Thirty-eight year old Tiana Irene Tomlinson ("TITS" to her friends) is at the top of her game. News-anchor at a major studio, Tiana suddenly hears that a co-anchor ten years younger and pretty might be joining the show. The suggestion that she might want to have some surgery performed on her face to make her look younger comes from her agent Max, and her boss Glenn.
But Tiana, orphaned at 14 when her South African mother, American father and two sisters die in a tragic car accident, decides to dig further to find herself first. Afraid to love again - her journalist husband Keith died from a sniper's bullet in Afghanistan. Tiana searches for what she really wants. Is it an enhanced, younger face in the mirror? Or something else?
Instead of succumbing to the station's threats, Tiana takes a month off and goes home to Africa with Rx Smile. Rx Smile is a group of doctors and nurses who donate their time to heal dying and disfigured African children. She also interviews African women who have made a difference in their own country. As she tells their stories of courage and healing, she starts to realize who she is. Michael O'Sullivan, a man she refers to as Dr. Hollywood, (a famous plastic surgeon to the stars), is among those on the trip. He has taken this journey for 7 years, treating children whose faces are disfigured. She knows Michael from many Hollywood events. The Michael O'Sullivan she knows caters to an elite group of celebrities. However, it is only on the Rx Smile trip that she realized that Michael's true love is the work that he does in Africa.
When a tragic accident disfigures Tiana herself, she comes out fighting with Michael's help, and wins.
Jane Porter has written a lovely novel, with a strong message. I enjoyed this book thoroughly.

My husband has always been easy on the eyes but that hasn't stopped me from noticing that Johnny Depp comes in a close second. He is a great actor too.
